Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross is celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer with free entry and special events. The museum will offer free admission to all visitors on Wednesday 12 August, with a celebratory evening reception from 6pm to 8.30pm for guests, supporters, and community partners.
The museum will also remain open daily with free entry throughout Ludlow's History Festival, running 21–31 August, giving residents and visitors the chance to explore the town's collections, exhibitions, and family-friendly displays during one of the town's most vibrant cultural weeks.
A decade of heritage preservation
Since opening in 2015, Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross has welcomed over 50,000 visitors, school groups, and heritage enthusiasts. The museum's exhibitions highlight Ludlow's archaeology, medieval development, civic history, and the stories of the people who shaped the town.
The museum holds Arts Council accreditation, a nationally recognised mark of professional management and a sustainable, trusted institution. It is operated by Ludlow Town Council, supported by Ludlow Civic Society, and is housed in the historic Buttercross building at the top of Broad Street.
The Town Clerk said the anniversary is an opportunity to recognise the dedication of volunteers, staff, partners, and visitors whose support has enabled the museum to flourish over the past decade.
