Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross celebrated its 10th anniversary this week with an evening reception attended by around thirty guests, including the Mayor of Ludlow, Deputy Mayor, councillors, town staff, volunteers and supporters.
The gathering provided an opportunity to reflect on the Museum's decade of work preserving and sharing Ludlow's heritage with the community.
Recognition and Achievements
The Mayor spoke about the Museum's accomplishments, highlighting its Arts Council Accreditation — a nationally recognised standard for professionally managed, sustainable and trusted museums. The Museum also received a 2017 heritage award from Ludlow's Conservation Area Advisory Committee for the successful refurbishment of the Buttercross and its contribution to the town's historic character.
A Decade of Visitor Numbers
Over the past ten years, the Museum has welcomed more than 50,000 visitors. It has served as a destination for residents, school groups, community organisations and visitors to discover the stories that have shaped Ludlow.
Celebrations Continue
Anniversary celebrations continue during the Ludlow History Festival period, with free entry to the Museum supported by Ludlow Town Guides and Ludlow Civic Society. Visitors are invited to explore the displays and join in marking the milestone.
