Ludlow Town Council has announced a casual vacancy in the Bringewood Ward following the resignation of Councillor Alan Tapley on 20 July 2026.
Election or Co-option
Under the Local Government Act 1972, ten electors from Bringewood Ward may request that the Returning Officer hold an election to fill the vacancy. Any such request must be submitted within fourteen days of the notice, excluding weekends and bank holidays.
The deadline for receiving a request for an election is Tuesday 11 August 2026. If no valid request is received by this date, Ludlow Town Council will proceed to co-opt a new councillor as soon as practicable.

Requests for an election should be sent to the Returning Officer at Electoral Services, Shropshire Council, The Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY3 8HQ.
