Ludlow Town Council has expressed full support for a publicly accessible defibrillator in Ludlow town centre, but has rejected a proposed location at the Bull Ring due to pavement safety concerns.
The Council's Planning Committee considered the proposal and concluded that while the principle of installing life-saving equipment in the town centre is sound, the Bull Ring site would narrow an already busy section of pavement and reduce space for pedestrians.
What the Council is looking for
The Council is keen to identify an alternative location nearby that keeps the defibrillator highly accessible to the public without obstructing the pavement or creating a hazard.
The Committee's objection was specifically about the siting. It was not about the appearance or design of the defibrillator or its cabinet.
Next steps
Ludlow Town Council has said it is supportive of working with relevant organisations to identify a suitable alternative site and enable the defibrillator to be available for the town's residents, businesses and visitors.
