Gobbett Nursery will close on Friday 9 October after more than 40 years trading at Ludlow Market under the Buttercross. The plant stall, run by Christine and Gordon Link, has been a fixture since the 1980s.

The nursery began when Christine's father-in-law first opened the stall. Gordon has grown and supplied plants throughout the business's four-decade history. Over the years, Gobbett Nursery became known for high-quality plants, friendly expertise and a familiar welcome to residents and visitors.

Next Chapter for Christine and Gordon

Although stepping back from Ludlow Market, the couple will continue their plant-growing work. They plan to travel to plant fairs across the country, including events in Liverpool and Cardiff, with their two vans and maintaining their existing standards.

Christine emphasised that leaving the market stall is not goodbye. The couple plan to visit Ludlow Market often and have made close friendships within the trading community. Christine said she will particularly miss the camaraderie of fellow traders she has worked alongside for many years.

Market's Thanks

Market colleagues and customers have expressed appreciation for Gobbett Nursery's long service, reliability and contribution to the character of the Buttercross. Ludlow Market has extended its warmest thanks to Christine and Gordon for their exceptional commitment.
